Pillar[5]arene-Based Co(III)-Loaded Covalent Organic Polymer for Efficient CO<sub>2</sub> Cycloaddition under Mild Conditions

Generating promising materials for the conversion of CO2 to valuable industrial products under mild conditions is important both ameliorating greenhouse effect and sustainable development. Pillar[5]arene-incorporated have recently emerged as building frameworks construct versatile functional polymeric materials. Herein, we demonstrate that highly efficient fixation cyclic carbonates can be achieved by employing a novel pillar[5]arene-based Co(III)-loaded covalent organic polymer (COP) heterogeneous catalyst (Co(III)–P5COP). The was created first condensation bromo-functionalized pillar[5]arene Schiff-base derivative (BHPD–OH) afford COP (P5COP), followed loading Co(III) prepare target material bearing abundant salen–Co(III) sites. Results catalysis with various substrates reveal excellent catalytic performance cycloaddition selectivity carbonate reaching up 96 99%, respectively, 30 °C 1 atm CO2. Moreover, Co(III)–P5COP exhibits general applicability other bulky epoxides. catalysts could easily recovered reused without marked loss in their activity. Therefore, marriage Co(III)–salen platform constitutes feasible approach offering accessible macrocycle-based new products.
